| Our Approach
“ …be today the future that you would wish for in the
world”
Mahatma Gandhi
Planning Company Associates’ approach to our work
does not fall into any particular category of “technical” services provided
by transportation consulting firms. Rather, our team provides overall
strategic transportation program review, development, and implementation
that bridges both the strategic and technical service areas. As part
of our comprehensive approach, our team looks to develop and proffer
a comprehensive surface transportation program that not only addresses
mobility, access and safety problems for our clients, but also attracts
the support of public sector partners because we properly define the
larger issue/problem before determining the most strategic and meaningful
solution. It is what we mean by “make the problem bigger”.
Planning
Company Associates’ strategic services focus on the following principles:
“Make the Problem Bigger” – Strategic transportation
problem-solving requires a thorough and accurate understanding of the problem.
We urge our clients to view their land use, mobility and access issues
in a broader context in order to fully understand their problem and its
potential solution-sets.
“Think Regionally, Act Locally” – As an
adjunct to the above approach and within the context of understanding
the root problem and its solution sets, Planning Company Associates
helps our clients solve their local access and mobility problems by
contributing to a larger regional solution set.
“Who Are Your Partners?” – Part
of identifying the root problem and potential solutions is determining
who shares in the desire and is working to solve regional access and mobility
problems. In this way, Planning Company Associates provides for a context
that naturally leads to the creation of “strategic partnerships” between
private sector parties, public and private parties, and many other interests
that are working toward mobility and access solutions.
“Control
Your Destiny” – It is our view that a broader view leading to a more comprehensive
understanding of mobility and access problems regionally lead to better,
more attainable, and more sustainable solutions in which many partners
will wish to share. We believe that this leads to more, not less, certainty
in the process.
