The State Route 50 (“SR-50”) in eastern Sacramento and western El Dorado counties is one of the most congested routes in the State of California. With this region realizing phenomenal growth rates over the past decade – with projections for an additional 70,000 residential units in the coming decade – the SR-50 is overloaded with regional, local and recreational trips. Planning Company Associates, working with major development community members, has prepared a comprehensive transportation mobility gameplan for the 50 Corridor area for the next 20 years. The plan has received the support and participation of multiple governmental agencies and Planning Company Associates is currently in the process of both formally organizing the implementing agencies for the 50 Corridor improvement program, as well as initiating project design and clearances for the first set of mobility improvements in the area. This program has been privately funded and private developer fees will be utilized to develop, design, and in some cases fully fund infrastructure improvements that are part of the 50 Corridor program.
